The Uniqueness of you.

             I can't even count the number of times people have said to me, “I wish I could paint like you, I couldn't draw the cork out of a bottle”. The same goes for my singing, they say, “oh I wish I could sing like you” or they'll say; “it's not fair, you can sing AND paint!”

             Well, I do consider myself blessed and never take my gifts for granted, however I am challenged when I see athletes striding it out way in front of their personal best. I can only imagine what it must be like to stand before an audience of millions whilst representing your country at the Olympic Games.

            Throughout my life some of my biggest challenges and trials have come from my music and my painting. For instance, if I wasn't involved in music I would not have been the target of a stalker early in my career. If I didn't paint I would not have faced the adversity and come under such opposition as I've had to deal with. It's a classic case of, the grass is always greener. I find it hard when people say to me, “I'm no good at anything, and I wish I could do what you do!” I try to encourage them to think about the things they enjoy and are good at no matter how small or insignificant it might seem to them. Consider This; Elsie makes beautiful sponges, in fact the best in Bendigo! If that is what you're good at, make a sponge and bless somebody with it. You might do an awesome piece of crochet work; why not give it to someone? If you're a gardener, bless someone with a plant! Some Ladies are good at talking, encourage someone with a word. Perhaps you tinker in the shed, does the neighbour need a hand fixing his mower? Don't hide your light, shine it. Your gift is meant to be shared! We Have ALL been given gifts, just different ones; no ones gift is any more special to our father who gave it to us than another's. Imagine if everyone was given the same gift of carpentry and no one had been lead into medicine or nursing, we would have beautiful buildings but who would care for the sick? What has God called you to do?

           I used to sit around and say God please use my gifts for your glory. I then continued to isolate myself in my art studio. Suddenly I started praying, saying God I want change in my life I want to use my gifts for your Glory. I wonder if God said, finally she's got it right! Since that prayer God has been grooming me and teaching me and calling me to his service in a way I never thought possible. It doesn't matter how small or how large your gift or calling may be, God can use every single one of us if we are willing.

         I believe God has a sense of humour; after all, he created us! If you're interested, at the very end of the meeting I will tell you what my true calling in life is. God has given each one of us a gift and a call to work for him that is unique to us. Don't play down the importance of your roll in his service; don't think he won't notice the little things you do for him.

                                                   We are all God's kids and it doesn't matter what age we are. We are never too old for him to use us.

          Talk to your children or Grandchildren, talk to the neighbours child about life when you were a kid. I can fondly remember hanging on to every word that my Nan spoke to me about the olden days. Even my mum shared stories with me about bringing up my sister and I, and how on wash day she had to boil the copper pot in the back yard and put the sheets in and boil them one at a time to get them clean, and how it took all day to do the washing. Share a moment with someone and show them the love of Christ. You will be blessed and using your unique gift for his Glory!
